(VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, announced an agreement under which Broadcom will acquire all of the outstanding shares of VMware in a cash-and-stock transaction that values VMware at approximately $61bn, based on the closing price of Broadcom common stock on May 25, 2022.

Broadcom announced a deal on May 26th, 2022, to acquire VMware for $61bn cash and stock deal. The deal is expected to finalize in the fiscal year 2023. Broadcom is aiming to become the world’s leading infrastructure technology company.

For Q1FY23, Total Revenue increased by 3.13% to $3,088mn as compared to $2,994mn in Q1FY22, led
by strong growth in SaaS and Subscription offering During Q1FY23, Cost of Revenue increased by 13.37% to $602mn as compared to $531mn in Q1FY22.

VMW’s stock was up 3.7% to $124 following the deal announcement, after which the stock went to the highs of
$132. Although it could not sustain on those levels due to continued sell off in broader market indices which pushed the stock down towards $115 level.
