SBUX announced on November 3, 2025, that it will form a joint venture with Boyu Capital to run SBUX retail operations in China. Boyu will own up to 60% of the business, while Starbucks will keep 40% and continue to own and license the Starbucks brand.

The acquisition strengthens Coca-Cola HBC’s growth platform in Africa, supported by its experience in markets like Nigeria and Egypt.
